Well the season’s well and truely over, so here comes next season’s fixtures. I’ve added a separate page for them which don’t appear too bad. Obviously, we’ve got a bit of a run before our first matches and then they come thick and fast. If this year’s anything to go by, we’ll probably lose some of the matches because of the poor weather. So we’ll be using Broadmeadow again.
Anyway let’s not worry too much about that now – bring on the summer!!!!

The Torquay matches are on and with the recent dry (ish) weather the pitch should be ok. We’ve only got a handful of weekends to go before the end of season but most of those will the taken up with matches – fortunately most of these’ll be home.
The fixture list looks very interesting (going to Crediton??) – and I’m sure the lads will certainly do themselves credit. Even with one or two new faces filling the ranks, the guys are showing some real talent and determination.
So bring on Torquay!!
22- Feb Torquay (H)
01-Mar Training
08-Mar Paignton (H)
15-Mar Totnes (H) - hoooray!!!
22-Mar Honiton (A)∆ Exmth
29-Mar Okehampton (H)
05-Apr Festival Festival
12-Apr Easter
19-Apr Crediton (A)

The sun really did shine in Brixham. From all accounts the U7s, U8s and U9s all did well on Sunday. Even with three or four new players in the U7s we certainly put on a good show. The last half of the second game being true try-fest! The guys all played their hearts out and we seemed to be scooring at will.
The training at the Broadmeadow sport centre has obviously done some good – we’ll certainly be using the place next winter!
The seasons rapidly coming to an end, you can almost count the matches on one hand! At the end of the season we usually take part in the Ivybridge Festival with 40 or so other teams from the U7s/U8s. Unfortunately this year we might not be able to go because only five players from the U7/U8s have completed the RFU Young Player Registration form. (This is the one that requires two photos)
The devon RFU are insisting that all players at festivals have their RFU ID cards available and for good reason -
1. the host club will be covered for any injuries etc
2. it stops illegal players e.g. kids playing in lower age groups.
So, please please get the forms into either me or Bridget at the club. If we don’t then the kids will lose out!!
If you need any forms let me know

Hi all
Not wanting to put a big ‘hex’ on the game it looks as though the match against Brixham is still on. Assuming the rain, wind and snow all hold off we need to be at their ground at about 10.00 am
If the match is cancelled we’ll be training at Broadmeadow
cheers

With all the chopping and changing over the last few weeks because of the weather we’ve decided that the kids might be better off not committing to play a match against Paignton this weekend but to concentrate on some training. With all the cancelled sesssion recently, it seems like a good idea to spend sometime concentrating on the basics again.
Even with only six kids in the U7s last week at Ivybridge, the guys still managed to win the first match 10 -3!
Unfortunatley they did play two games and lost the second (against a fresh team) – but they were extrememely tired.
The U8’s also showed impressive form winning the first and losing the second matches but again they were playing a fresh team in the second match.
So this Sunday we’ll either train at TRFC or if we can’t use to the pitch we’ll go to the Broadmeadow sports centre.

We’ve just received a phone call from Paignton confirming that after a pitch inspection all matches are cancelled. The next game is against Ivybridge on Sunday 25th January.

Just to confirm the match against Paignton has been confirmed with a kick off time for the U7/U8s pencilled in for 10.45. If you’re meeting at TRFC beforehand can I suggest we leave TRFC at 9.30 at the latest so the kids will have enough time to warm up etc.

Due to the very cold weather the matches on Sunday against Topsham have been cancelled. Apparently the ground is frozen for 2/3 inches with little chance of it all thawing before Sunday 10.00.
The next match is away to Paignton on 18th January.
cheers Andy

Yes, so U7s didn’t beat either Newton Abbot or Plymstock but they did very well. Bearing in mind they hadn’t played a match for three weeks, they were excellent. The passing is improving and so is the tagging althoug there were a couple of moments where we seemed to let the opposition come straight through. The most pleasiing thing was that a few of the tries came from sustained pressure where the ball was passed more than 5/6 times – so good on ‘em!
As for the U8s they just seem to get better and better. I’m not sure how many of the local will have such a strong record. And if they all stay together between now and next season, what a great U9s will they make!
Between now and then they’ve all got lots of matches – over the next three weeks we’re playing Topsham (h) Paington (a) and Ivybridge (a) so that’ll be interesting.
With the cold weather please make sure the kids are warm enough. Extra clothing is the name of the game (including gloves if possible).
Also there is always a ppitch inspection on the Saturday (if we’re playing at home) afterwhich the coaches are informed whether or not the matches/training can take place. So if you are in any doubt, call me on 07968827277 or get hold of Jon Southwood.
