‘Rugby Ready’ course 19th January
We’ve finally received confirmation that TRFC will be hosting a “Rugby Ready” course on 19th January at 6.30pm. We’re roughly half way through the season and the boys are doing very well.
And although the trip to Torquay was a bit frustrating (this weekend will be a “how to tag and pass” session!), they’re learning every time they pull their boots on.
We’ve got quite a bit group and really hope they stay together as a unit and we’d really appreciate any more help. If you are interested, the course is the entry level to the IRB coaching courses and is excellent fun. What better way to spend a Monday evening than mucking around on a rugby pitch for a couple of hours!
Whilst we all know a bit about rugby, most of us haven’t taught before and these courses are an enormous help in getting the kids to understand the basics. They also provide a slightly different way of looking at things and coming up with new ideas to solve old problems.
The costs for the course are covered by TRFC, all you have to bring is your kit and boots – most of evening is spent going through various training ideas on the pitch.
You don’t need any previous coaching experience and from what I understand this course is focused on coaching aspects of “contact” rugby, but the essentials should be relevant for the U9s anyway.
The more dads that get involved the better it will be for the kids - smaller groups with 1 on 1 coaching would be great! In addition, by coming on the course will help TRFC achieve its bid for the RFU Seal of Approval.
If you are interested, or know anyone else who might be interested please let Jon Southwood or myself know and we’ll set it up.
